Can you believe that fall is here and it’s about pumpkin, turkey, and noodles time? I’m excited about that, but don’t like thinking about the cold weather ahead.

Well, you’ll be happy to know that we have many new items that will help you endure and enjoy the chill ahead. Come on in and check them out, or get on your computer and put your holds on at home and just drop by and pick them up.

November brings a couple of days in which we are closed – Nov. 11, in honor of Veteran’s Day; and Nov. 26, for Thanksgiving Day (as well as closing at 4 p.m. Thanksgiving Eve so we can get the turkey in the oven).

We are thankful for many things. One is for our community and our patrons who support our library all year. We try hard to always be of service to all. Thank you for your patronage and your friendship.

Our Christmas Reading Club is in full swing. Children, age 3 to grade 6 may sign up. When they sign up they will receive a book bag, a reading log and a restaurant coupon. They then check out and read books. For each five books read, they will receive $1 in Merry Money. They will be able to read and count the books until Dec. 9. On Saturday, Dec. 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. we will have our Library Christmas Shop. They will then be able to spend their money to purchase gifts for all those on their shopping list. It’s lots of fun and the children get practice on their reading and math skills, and earn the gifts they give. Stop in and sign up.

Other upcoming events include:

• Preschool Storytime – Tuesday, 11 a.m. Activities include stories, crafts and lots of fun.

• Quilting Club – Nov. 2, 1-3 p.m. and Nov. 17, 5-7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join this group for help or just for fun.

The Greenfield Public Library is located at 1125 Jefferson St., Greenfield. The hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The phone number is 937-981-3772, the fax number is 937-981-5177 or find us on the web at www.highlandco.org.
