Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Dec. 28, 2015 to Jan. 3, 2016, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 350 911 calls, answered 168 requests for service, dispatched 118 fire and EMS runs, took 29 offense reports and investigated four traffic crashes.

On Dec. 28 at 6:18 a.m. a resident of the 8000 block of SR 753 called the sheriff’s office to report her vehicle windows had been broken and items were missing. A deputy responded to the scene and a report was taken.

A deputy was dispatched to the 12000 block of SR 753 at 11:06 a.m. on Dec. 29 after a citizen called to report his vehicle had windows broken and items were missing. A report was taken.

A resident of the 600 block of SR 131 called the sheriff’s office at 1:51 p.m. on Jan. 2 to report returning home to find her garage door had been damaged during an attempted break in. A deputy responded to the residence to take a report.

A citizen on Young Road called the sheriff’s office at 9:28 p.m. on Jan. 2 to report catching an unknown suspect in his vehicle. The suspect fled on foot. A deputy was dispatched to patrol the area, but the suspect was not located.
