Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife, officer Heidi Devine speaks to kids at the Leesburg Branch Library.

We continue to be heroes with our summer reading program at the Leesburg Library this month. You can still sign up to read and win prizes by stopping in at our front desk. Our programs and prize drawings will continue throughout July.

The Highland County libraries will be closed Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Please feel free to use our outdoor book drop to return items.

Our Knit Together group continues to meet every Thursday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. New knitters are always welcome.

Our Thursday morning programs for kids continue. On July 2, we are having Super Hero Cartoon Fest. Come watch some super cartoons while enjoying popcorn starting at 10:30 a.m.

Our program on Thursday, July 9 at 10:30 a.m. is “How’s Your SUPER Vision?” Local eye doctor Tausha Barton will talk to us about optical illusions and other “eye-opening” topics. Our SPARX teen group is hosting “Be a Guitar Hero!” on July 9 at 5:30 p.m. Leesburg teens are invited to show off their musical talents and enjoy a snack.

Join us for “Super Hero Training Camp”, our life-size board game on Thursday, July 16 at 10:30 a.m. Travel through the metropolis of Leesburg to test your super powers against library villains while winning prizes and treats along the way. Our adult book group, RRRR, meets on the 16th at 1:30 p.m. The book this month is “Me Before You” by Jojo Moyes. New members are invited to attend.

Our last morning children’s program for the summer, “Be a Hero” Grand Finale, will be held on Thursday, July 23. Join us for music, treats, fun and prizes at 10:30 a.m.

The last day for our summer reading program for all patrons is Monday, July 27. All kids’ reading logs must be turned in and teen and adult drawing slips completed by this date. The last day to turn in your “Super Heroes to the Rescue” art contest entries is Tuesday, July 28. Participants need to submit their masks, capes and posters by this date.

We invite all library patrons to join us Monday, Aug. 3 at 6 p.m. for our cookie and punch reception and art exhibit in our community room. Entries and winners from the Super Heroes to the Rescue contest will be on display until 7 p.m.

There will be no storytimes during the month of July. Join us, instead for our Thursday morning programs detailed above. Our children’s story times will resume in September.

We look forward to seeing you during the month of July for one of our programs or to just beat the heat and pick up a refreshing summertime read. Have a fantastic summer.
