Register at Republican headquarters

The Highland County Republican headquarters at 200 W. Main St., Hillsboro, will be open noon to 5 p.m. for voter registrations through Tuesday, Feb. 16 (except Sunday). New voters and those who have moved and wish to update their registrations should register by Feb. 16 in order to vote in the March primary election.

North Joint Fire District

The Highland County North Joint Fire/Ambulance District will hold a board meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 200 South St., Leesburg.

Care-A-Van not running

The Highland County Health Department Care-A-Van will not run as regularly scheduled Tuesday, Feb. 16. Services will be provided in the office at 1487 N. High St., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you have any questions call the health department at 937-393-1941.

Republican Lincoln Day Dinner

The Highland County Republican Party will hold its annual Lincoln Day Dinner on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at the Hillsboro United Methodist Church. U.S. Senator Rob Portman will be the featured speaker. Social hour begins at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 and can be obtained from any central committee member or by calling 937-402-1866 or 937-763-8305.

Hillsboro school board meetings

The Hillsboro City Schools Board of Education will meet in regular session Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. at the board office, 39 Willettsville Pike, for a regular board meeting and executive session, if necessary.

The board’s finance committee will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16 in the treasurer’s office, 39 Willettsville Pike.

SOESC Governing Board

The Southern Ohio Educational Service Center Governing Board Finance Committee will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17 at the Southern Ohio Educational Service Center, 3321 Airborne Road, Wilmington.

Utilities Committee date changed

The Hillsboro City Council Utilities Committee meeting originally scheduled for Feb. 17 has been changed to Thursday, Feb. 18 at 6 p.m. at the firehouse.

Farm Toy Show in Mowrystown

The Mowrystown FFA Alumni and Mowrystown FFA will host a Farm Toy Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20 at Whiteoak High School. The buy, sell, trade or display event is endorsed by the Southwestern Ohio Farm Toy Tractor Club. Admission is $2 and includes a raffle ticket for a FFA tractor. Display tables can be rented for $10. Concessions will be available. Set up starts at 6:30 a.m. the day of the show. All funds raised will benefit the Mowrystown FFA. Children’s sign language class

Spark Creative Artspace will hold a children’s American Sign Language class from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20. The cost is $20 per student and the instructors will be Tom Schluep and Molly Jordan. The class will take place at Spark’s studios at 251 Jefferson St., Greenfield. GACC business meeting

The annual business meeting of the membership of the Greenfield Area Christian Center will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21 in the Community Room at the GACC Center, 910 N. Fifth St., Greenfield. All area churches are invited to send representatives to provide input, elect trustees, and receive updated information on this important community mission.

First Presbyterian dinner

The First Presbyterian Church of Greenfield will serve lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21 in the church basement dining room. The menu will be chicken breast, parmesan mashed potatoes, green beans or peas and carrots, a variety of salads, a variety of desserts, rolls and drinks. The cost of the meal is a suggested donation of $8 for adults. Children 12 and under are free. Carry-out will be available.

Lynchburg-Clay school board

The Lynchburg-Clay Board of Education will meet in regular session at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22 at the board of education building.

Open Door Free Meal

The Open Door Free Meal will be held at the Greenfield United Methodist Church on Saturday, Feb. 27. Eat-in serving will be held from 4 to 4:30 p.m. The menu will be spaghetti, garlic bread, green beans and cherry dessert.

Soup’s On Free Meal

The Soups On Free Meal will be served Saturday, Feb. 27 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Hillsboro. Prayer and praise starts at 4:30 p.m. and dinner is served from 5-6 p.m. The menu will be chili-mac and cheese, tossed salad, rolls,

assorted drinks and desserts. The meal is served eat-in only.

Pancake sausage supper

The Fruitdale United Methodist Church is hosting a pancake and sausage supper on Saturday, Feb. 27 from 4-7 p.m. Supper items include pancakes, sausage, dessert, drinks, and table relishes. The church is located on SR 41 south of Greenfield. Freewill donations will be accepted.

Blues, Brews, Stews Winterfest

The fourth annual Blues, Brews and Stews Winterfest, sponsored by Greening Greater Greenfield (G3), will take place from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27. There will be two venues this year, one at Spark Creative Artspace at 251 Jefferson St. in Greenfield and the other across the street at Catch 22 Sports Pub.

Tax help at Senior Center

AARP volunteers will provide free tax services at the Highland County Senior Citizens Center in February, March and April. Call for your appointment and to see if you qualify at 393-4745.

Addiction series at Peace Lutheran

A free seven-part “Baffled By Addiction” educational series presented my Ed Hughes, and Ronald Turner, M.D., will presented on Thursdays, Feb. 4 to March 17, at Peace Lutheran Church, 231 Harry Sauner Road, Hillsboro. The series will provide education, help and hope to loved ones of addicted persons. Topics to be covered include: The Disease of Addiction, The Progression, Hitting Bottom – How Alcoholic/Addict Decides to get Help, Then Ways You Can Help, The Recovery Process, and Real Stories of Hope. Palm Sunday Service

A community Palm Sunday Service will be held at the Greenfield Church of Christ, 955 Jefferson St., on Sunday, March 20 at 6:00 pm. Everyone is invited.
