Pick up tree seedling orders April 8

The Highland Soil and Water Conservation Districts tree seedling orders will be ready for pick-up on Friday, April 8 from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The one-day pick-up will be held at the Liberty Township Building, located on Moore Road across from Seal-Tite. The building will only be open during these times, so make arrangements to pick-up your trees that day. There are a few tree packets still available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are interested in purchasing tree seedlings stop by the Liberty Township Building during the pick-up times or contact the Highland SWCD office at 393-1922 ext. 3.

Board of DD Provider Fair

On March 31, there will be a Provider Fair at the Highland County Board of Developmental Disabilities, 8919 U.S. Route 50, Hillsboro, from 1-3 p.m. It is open to the public and will focus on services available in Highland County for adults and children with developmental disabilities. There willbe exhibits, snacks and door prizes. An art contest of art by individuals with developmental disabilities will be held with prizes of Walmart gift cards. HCA benefit dinner

The Hillsboro Christian Academy will hold its annual benefit dinner Friday, April 1 at the Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church, 8080 SR 124, Hillsboro. Admission is $5 per person with children 10 and under admitted for $3. Doors open at 5 p.m. There will be a silent auction from 5-6:30 p.m., dinner at 5:45 p.m., program at 6:45 p.m. and live auction at 7:30 p.m. Call 937-393-8422 for more information.

Hillsboro Yard Waste Facility

The city of Hillsboro Yard Waste Facility will be open Friday, April 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 2 from 8 a.m. to noon. Beginning Friday, April 8 , the facility will be open every Friday from noon to 3:30 p.m. and the first Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to noon. The site is located on Selph Road, 0.35 miles from U.S. Route 62 North. The rules of the Yard Waste Facility are as follows: You must present a valid driver’s license at the gate, only yard waste will be accepted, only yard waste from city properties will be accepted.

Spark! open studio April 2

Spark! Creative Artspace will hold an Open Studio on Saturday, April 2 at its 251 Jefferson St. studios in Greenfield. The event is free and will begin at noon and run until 3 p.m. It is open to all ages and the public is invited to stop by, observe Spark’s artists at work, get involved in a project, or just enjoy a cup of coffee and a sweet treat. The afternoon will include a free children’s workshop sponsored by Adena Greenfield Medical Center and Greenbird of Cincinnati. The project will involve assembling and personalizing a birdhouse made of recycled paper. Spark! will provide the birdhouse kit, paints, brushes, and a protective apron. Parents are welcome to help their child complete their project. There will also be treats for the kids to enjoy as the work on their projects. For complete details about Spark! Hillsboro VFW fish dinner

Hillsboro VFW Post 9094 will host an all-you-can-eat fish fry from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 2. The menu includes fish, fries, slaw, hush puppies and soft drink for $8. The event is open to the public.

First Baptist rummage sale

The First Baptist Church of Greenfield will hold a rummage sale in the fellowship hall behind the church, 125 N. Washington St., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 1 and 2.

‘The Little Mermaid’ at PVHS

Paint Valley High School will present “The Little Mermaid” at 7 p.m. Friday, April 1 and Saturday, April 2 and at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 3 at the high school gym. Tickets are $10 and can be reserved by calling 740-634-3582 ext. 14327 for details.

Red Hat Society Spring Fling

The local Red Hat Society will host its annual Hillsboro Spring Fling from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 26 at the Highland County Senior Citizen Center, 185 Muntz St., Hillsboro. Greenfield CCCU Spring Revival

The Greenfield Church of Christ in Christian Union will host a spring revival April 6-10 at 7 p.m. Sunday school will be at 9:30 a.m., Sunday worship at 10:30 a.m. and Sunday evening worship at 6 p.m. The guest evangelist will be Darby Beekman with Casey McDaniels & Family as guest singers.

Baladino at SSCC time correction

Southern State Community College will welcome Mediterranean folk band Baladino Wednesday, April 6, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on the central campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. Please note the event will begin at 1 p.m.; the time had been previously promoted as beginning earlier.

Employee Relations Committee

The Hillsboro Employee Relations Committee will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 7 at the Hillsboro Firehouse, 204 N. East St., to discuss revisions to the Hillsboro Civil Service Rules. The meeting is open to the public.

Candle fundraiser for shelter

The Highland County Homeless Shelter has teamed up with Camelot Farms Candles for an April fundraiser. Orders are due by April 30 and order forms can be sent to [email protected].
