Highland County Sheriff’s Office reports

Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Aug. 1- 7, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 318 911 calls, answered 144 requests for service, dispatched 116 fire and EMS runs, took 26 offense reports and investigated six traffic crashes.

On Aug. 1. at 2:49 a.m. a Dunn Road resident called 911 to report a fight between a husband and wife. Deputies responded to the scene and arrested Dustin A. Washburn of Leesburg for one count of domestic violence.

A deputy was dispatched to a residence on Carlisle Lane at 10:59 p.m. on Aug. 1 after a female called 911 to report two intoxicated subjects fighting. A male was arrested for persistent disorderly conduct and transported to the Highland County Justice Center.

A Mowrystown resident called the sheriff’s office at 11:09 p.m. on Aug. 2 to report being assaulted by her husband while at their home. Deputies met with the victim and an offense report was taken. Richard E. East was arrested and charged with one count of domestic violence.

The sheriff’s office received a call on Aug. 6. at 6:10 p.m. from a residence on Bell’s Run Road where a female was allegedly attacking her son-in-law. Deputies arrived on the scene to find evidence that an assault had occurred. Donna M. Hiatt was arrested for one count of assault and one count of domestic violence.

At 12:56 p.m. on Aug. 7. a Highland Trails East property owner called the sheriff’s office to report a breaking and entering and theft. A deputy responded to the scene to collect evidence and take an offense report.
