On Tuesday, Dec. 24, the Hillsboro Police Department received a report of a traffic crash on North High Street and Somers Street in Hillsboro. James R. Captain, 54, of Hillsboro, was southbound on North High Street driving a 1992 Buick and was unable to stop before striking the rear of a vehicle in front of him, which was stopped in traffic. The 1996 Ford which was struck was being driven by Penny Robert, 65, of Peebles.
David Hines was cited for dog running at large.
Melissa Sandlin was cited for disorderly conduct.
John M. Barger was arrested for theft.
Danielle R. Hoskins was arrested on two counts of theft by deception.
Autumn Crary, 32, of Mt. Orab, citation driving under suspension/license plate light.
On Dec. 31, the Hillsboro Police Department received a call regarding an altercation in the 700 block of North High Street. After responding officer’s investigation, Mark A. Dabe, 47, of Hillsboro was arrested for domestic violence and transported to the Highland County Justice Center.

Mark Vaught, 32, Hillsboro, was arrested for theft and receiving stolen property.
On Jan. 3, Joshua Music, Hillsboro, driving a 1995 GMC, was traveling southbound on Willetsville Pike and struck a 2009 Saturn that was pulling from a driveway at Dodge Tack Shop and was being driven by Bridget Brooks, Hillsboro. Music was cited for failure to yield and Brooks was cited for driving with a temporary permit without a licensed driver.
On Jan. 3, Wal-Mart, Harry Sauner Road, reported they had a male in the store that had taken some items. Upon investigation, Jeremy Pinkerton, 30, Hillsboro, was arrested for theft.
On Jan. 3, Speedway, North High Street, reported they had a male in the store that was refusing to leave the property. Officers responded and arrested Jeremy Fletcher, 26, Hillsboro for criminal trespassing.
On Jan. 4, Celestine Zanger of Madison Heights, Mont., driving a 2001 Lincoln, was parked at Wal-Mart when she opened her door and struck the door of a 2008 Ford that was owned by Jason Brunck, New Vienna.
On Jan. 4, Kroger’s, Harry Sauner Road, reported a male subject was in the business and was asked to leave. The subject left and came back to the business. Jeremy Fletcher, 26, of Hillsboro was arrested for criminal trespassing.

Evan Lewis, Leesburg, was cited for driving under suspension and failure to file for vehicle registration.

Types of Arrests: One criminal mischief, three disorderly conduct, one FRA suspension, one domestic, two bench warrant, one assured clear distance ahead, one driving on temporary permit without a licensed driver and one failure to yield.
The weekend statistics from 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3 until midnight Sunday, Jan. 5 are as follows 110 calls, one 911, six offense reports, two accidents, 16 arrests and 43 security checks.
Types of Arrests: One theft without consent, two criminal trespass, one theft, one receiving stolen property, six bench warrant, one driving under suspension, one failed to file for registration, one failure to yield, one obstructing official business and one possession of drugs.
On Jan. 4, Leann Searles, South Elm Street, Hillsboro, reported someone had entered her garage and had taken various tools and equipment. This report is still under investigation.
On Jan. 5, a traffic stop was made on Chillicothe Avenue. The driver of the vehicle, Hailee Heflin, 18, Hillsboro, was arrested for possession of drugs. A passenger in the vehicle, Scott Lewis, 19, New Vienna, was arrested for obstructing official business. Both subjects were transported to the Highland County Justice Center.
Dustin Stiltner, West Union, was cited for failure to yield when turning left.
Chelsea Boone, 24, Hillsboro, was arrested for failure to appear warrant.
Michael Eldridge, 32, Hillsboro, was arrested for failure to appear warrant.
David Bolling, 22, HIllsboro, was arrested for failure to appear warrant.
On Jan. 5, officers responded to a call of a female that was at a subject’s home and would not leave. The female, Camia Estle, 41, Hillsboro, was removed from the property at Oak Street and advised not to return. Estle returned to the property an hour later and was arrested for criminal trespassing and was transported to the Highland County jail.
On Jan. 6, Eugene Auker, Hillsboro, driving a 1999 Honda, was traveling north on North High Street and failed to stop and struck a 2006 Chrysler that was being driven by Danielle Florence, Hillsboro. This caused the Florence vehicle to strike a 1997 Chevrolet that was stopped making a left turn and was driven by Chance Florence of Hillsboro. Auker was cited for assured clear distance ahead.
