We continue to fizz, boom, read with our summer reading program at the Leesburg Library this month. You can still sign up to read and win prizes by stopping in at our front desk. Our programs and prize drawings will continue throughout July.


The Highland County libraries will be closed Friday, July 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Feel free to use our outdoor book drop to return items.


Our Knit Together group continues to meet every Thursday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. New knitters are always welcome.


Our Thursday morning programs for kids continue. On July 3 we are having a Mad Scientist Cartoon Fest. Come watch some of your favorite mad scientists while enjoying popcorn and a beverage starting at 10:30 a.m.


Our program on Thursday, July 10 at 10:30 a.m. is Quit Playing with your Food. Dawna Jo Kiesling will be here with some nutrition info and fun and then we will be doing experiments with food.


Our SPARX teen group is hosting Supper with Snakes on July 10 at 5:30 p.m. Leesburg teens are invited to enjoy a snake-themed feast with a few special slithery guests.


Join us for Blinded By Science, our life-size board game on Thursday, July 17 at 10:30 a.m. Travel through Castle Leesburg Library as the resident mad scientists perform awesome experiments while participants win prizes and treats. Our adult book group, RRRR, meets on the July 17 as well at 1:30 p.m. The book this month is “The Traitor’s Wife” by Allison Pataki.


Our final morning childrens program for the summer, Fizz, Boom Read Grand Finale, will be held Thursday, July 24. Join us for music, food, fun and prizes at 10:30 a.m.


The last day for our summer reading program for all patrons is Monday, July 28. All kids’ reading logs must be turned in and teen and adult drawing slips completed by this date.


Our Egg Drop Contest will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2 in the library parking lot (rain or shine). All registered participants should bring their eggs and containers to the library on that day to see whose egg survives.


There will be no story times during the month of July. Join us instead for our Thursday morning programs detailed above.
