The Hillsboro Indians boys golf team kicked off the 2014 season with a convincing win over Blanchester on Wednesday. Hillsboro won the match with a score of 166. Blanchester shot a 199.


“This was a great way to kick off the season,” Coach Dan Spidel said after the match. “I am really excited about what is in store for us this year.”


Austin Bagshaw led the Indians with a 38, followed by Alex Vanzant and Jacob Deatley with 41, Cameron Reed, 46, Michael Hassman, 51, and Travis Wehrung with a 59.


Reilly Hopkins shot a 44 to top Blanchester’s scores; Alec Richardson shot a 50; Brad Chrstoff, 52; and Roger Buerkle with a 53.


The Indians’ next home match will be Wednesday, August 13, when they play host to Clinton-Massie High School at 4:30 p.m.
