The Hillsboro High School volleyball team hosted McClain on Thursday night for their first South Central Ohio League match up. After dropping the first two matches, the Lady Indians rallied back and won the next three to win the game 3-2 and bring their record to 2-1 and 1-0 in the SCOL.
“Overall, we played very well, it just took them a while to get going,” Hillsboro coach Amy Vance said after the win. “The first two games, we were playing to catch up, the last three games we played to win. It was nice to get a league win under our belts right away. That’s a big confidence booster for us.”
“I thought we played well but we just lacked a little bit of communication,” Lady Tigers coach Emma Gall said on the loss. “We had some good plays up at the net and some girls saw the court really well and I thought we did well serving tonight. We just have to get our communication up on the serve and receive.”
For the Lady Indians, Kirsten Juillerat led with five blocks and four assits, Taylor Remsing led in hitting with 13 kills and in serving with five aces, and Chloe Harless led in the passing category.
The Hillsboro squad will hit the road on Monday to play Western Latham and West Union in a tri-match. McClain will also be on the raod next when they travel to Portsmouth Clay on Saturday.
