The Hillsboro American Legion played the opening game of their own Wood Bat Tournament on Friday afternoon and fell to Waverly with a score of 7-0.
Waverly got all their runners across the plate in the second and third innings. They scored five in the second and two in the third and Hillsboro pitching was able to hold them scoreless for the rest of the game. Unfortunately, the Hillsboro bats couldn’t catch fire and the team had a total of only four hits in the game and were unable to get anyone across the plate.
The tournament continues on both Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd. Hillsboro will open the day up again on Saturday with their first game at 9 a.m. and will play another following the completion of game one. They will play at 2:30 on Sunday.
