Fairfield High School standout Ryan Bates has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Southern State Community College.

“We are really excited to have Ryan a part of our basketball program here at Southern State. He is not only a good basketball player, but a great student,” said Blake Kibler, SSCC men’s basketball coach. “Ryan is a great rebounder, defender and will fit into the small forward position quite well. Ryan comes from a great program at Fairfield High School with coach Everett Snyder. It was also nice to hear that Ryan’s parents are also Southern State alumni as well. Ryan has a lot of potential and we are excited to see what the future holds for him.”

During his junior year, Bates was named all-league and all-district honorable mention; and during his senior year he was named all-league and all-district. Besides basketball, he also played soccer and baseball during his high school tenure.
