Three defendants are heading to prison following hearings in Highland County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday, two on drug charges and one for burglary.David L. Jones, 25, of Hillsboro, was sentenced to nine months in prison despite a request for treatment.It was the recommendation of the state, represented by assistant prosecutor Ross Greer, for at least a nine-month sentence based on Jones’ felony history and history with drug abuse, Greer said.Jones pled guilty to aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree felony, in August.

A Portsmouth man is heading to prison for nonsupport after being sentenced in Highland County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday.Joseph S. Hanshaw, 35, pled guilty to fifth-degree felony nonsupport in May, but that was after he was arrested on a warrant issued when he failed to appear for a pretrial hearing in April.According to court records, another warrant was issued when he failed to appear for his sentencing hearing in June.
