The 2014 edition of the Highland County Fair gets under way Saturday, with a special free admission day Monday for veterans and senior citizens, plus another Wednesday morning featuring free admission for everyone.On Monday, Sept. 1, all veterans and senior citizens age 62 or older will be admitted free.Plus, anyone entering the fairgrounds before noon on Wednesday, Sept. 3 will not have to pay. Those accepting the opportunity are welcome to enjoy the fair and all its free attractions the entire day, but if they want to ride rides they will have to play $7 per person.The fair runs Aug. 30 to Sept. 6 this year. A special supplement in Tuesday’s print edition of The Times-Gazette features a full fair schedule.

 

McClain volleyball notches big win

The McClain girls varsity volleyball team picked up their second win of the season and evened the league record at 1-1 after defeating Clinton Massie 3 games to 1 Tuesday night in Greenfield.The Lady Tigers jumped out early winning the first two games 25-18 and 25-22 before dropping the third game.
