April begins peak tornado season

While tornadoes can occur at any time, the upcoming months often see the most tornado activity, and preparing for such severe weather can help ensure safety when it strikes.“We’re heading into having a better chance of tornadoes in this area,” said Steve Hrebenach, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service office in Wilmington. “Generally, there’s an increase in chances from April through June.”Similarly, the Ohio Committee for Severe Weather Awareness cites the peak tornado season as April through July, with most tornadoes occurring between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m.
