Hillsboro pulls out 3-run win over Unioto

The score was tied 3-3 in the seventh inning Monday night in Chillicothe, but the Hillsboro Indians turned it around with three runs in the eighth for a 6-3 non-league win against the Unioto Shermans in their second game of the season.

The Indians opened the game with a run in the first inning, while it took Unioto until the fourth to make it home. The Shermans scored two runs in the fourth inning, leading Hillsboro 2-1 before the Indians made two runs in the sixth. Unioto brought in one for the seventh, tying the score at 3-3, but the Indians turned it back around with three runs in the final inning to win the game.

Ethan Humphries was the winning pitcher with three hits, one earned run and a strikeout in 2.1 innings, relieving starting pitcher Sajoun Jones, who pitched 4.2 innings with two hits, two runs (one earned), six walks and two strikeouts. Mason Stanley pitched one strikeout in one inning.

Jonah Humphries and Ethan Watson each made two hits in the game, while Hunter Chain, Cayse Cameron and Payton Bell each had one. Cameron and Bell each had two RBI while Watson had one. Mason Stanley ran home twice for the Indians, while Jonah Humphries, Chain and Cameron each made one run.

At home Saturday, Hillsboro beat Waverly High School 1-0 for a non-league win in their season opener.

Cayse Cameron pitched seven innings with three hits, two walks and nine strikeouts. Mason Stanley made the Indians’ run, batted in by Hunter Chain in the sixth inning.
