The Whiteoak Wildcats stormed back for a 12-5 victory against Symmes Valley Vikings in a non-league game Monday played at Paints Stadium in Chillicothe. With the victory, the Wildcats improve to 6-4 overall on the season.

The Wildcats dug themselves an early hole against the Vikings, giving up five runs through the top of the fifth inning while only scoring one run.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Wildcats came alive at home plate, scoring six runs in the inning to take a 7-5 lead and never looking back. The Wildcats were led in the inning by Zach Harless, two RBI triple, and Casey Nace, two RBI double.

The sixth inning was more of the same for the Wildcats, who tacked on five runs to provide the final margin.

Coach Chris Veidt singled out Nace as a key cog in the win by saying, “Tonight will go a long way in proving to Casey Nace that he is as good as our coaching staff thinks he is. Casey always stands out in practice and tonight his ability to believe in himself allowed his physical talents to shine. We are looking forward to a productive season from him.”

The Lady Wildcats were also in action Monday falling to Williamsburg 17-0.

Whiteoak will be in Southern Hills Athletic Conference action Wednesday at league and cross-county rival Lynchburg-Clay.
