Hillsboro and McClain travel to WCH for D II district track and field tournament

The Hillsboro Indians boys track and field team, along with the boys and girls teams from McClain High School traveled to Washington High School on Tuesday for the preliminary round of the Southeast district Div. II track and field tournament.

Coaches from both teams were required to submit no more than two athletes per event to compete in the district tournament.

Participants chosen from McClain are; Beth Montgomery and Hunter Scott in the girls shot put, Tristan Pitzer and Riley Moon in the boys long jump, Maddie Stapleton and Emily Parker in the girls high jump, Owen O’Connor and Ethan Cockerill in the boys pole vault, Chayden Pitzer in the girls 100-meter hurdles, Landry Gray and Griffin Foltz in the boys 110-meter hurdles, Rachel Clark and Stapleton in the girls 100-meter dash, Jensen Knaff and T. Pitzer in the boys 100-meter dash, the boys 4×800-meter relay team, the girls and boys 4×200-meter relay team, Reece Schluep and Kaleb Shephard in the boys 1600-meter run, the girls and boys 4×100-meter relay team, Clark and Parker in the girls 400-meter dash, Trevor Newkirk and Patrick Fout in the boys 400-meter dash, Gray and Foltz in the boys 300-meter hurdles, Anna Shupert and Ashley Hardesty in the girls 800-meter run, Justin Osborne and Schluep in the boys 800-meter run, Vanessa Smith and C. Pitzer in the girls 200-meter dash, Newkirk and T. Pitzer in the 200-meter dash, the girls and boys 4×400-meter relay teams,and Jordan Pearson and O’Connor in the boys discus throw.

Participants from Hillsboro are; Logan Hester and Austin Goolsby in the boys long jump, Mark Gallimore and Goolsby in the boys pole vault, Quinn Conlon and Chayce Watson in the boys 110-meter hurdles, Logan Hester in the boys 100-meter dash, the boys 4×800-meter relay team, the boys 4×200-meter relay team, Ben Sowders and Nathan Spencer in the boys 1600-meter run, the boys 4×100-meter relay team, Tyler Workman and Rory Foley in the boys 400-meter dash, Conlon and Watson in the boys 300-meter hurdles, Britton Haines and Alexander in the boys 800-meter run, Logan Hester in the boys 200-meter dash, the boys 4×400-meter relay team, and Draven Stodgel and Kole Maynard in the boys discus throw. The Hillsboro Lady Indians who compete at the Div. I level are scheduled to compete on Thursday in Marietta.

Finals qualifiers from McClain girls are; C. Pitzer with a time of 26.07 in the 200-meter dash and a time of 16.00 in the 100-meter hurdles, the 4×100-meter relay team with a time of 51.07, the 4×200-meter relay team with a time of 1:48.57, Hunter Scott with a distance of 31-04.50 and Beth Montgomery with a distance of 31-03.00 in the shot put.

The girls shot put event finals were also held on Tuesday with Beth Montgomery finishing fifth with a distance of 33-09.50 and Hunter Scott finishing eighth with a distance of 31-07.75.

Finals qualifiers from Hillsboro are; Ty Alexander in the boys 800-meter run with a time of 2:08.67, Chayse Watson in the boys 300-meter hurdles with a time of 44.46, the boys 4×100-meter relay team with a time of 44.24, the 4×400-meter relay team with a time of 3:41.72, and Austin Goolsby in the boys long jump with a distance of 20-02.50.

The boys pole vault finals were contested on Tuesday, along with the boys long jump finals. Austin Goolsby won both events with a height of 15-06.00 in the pole vault and a distance of 22-06.00 in the long jump.

Finals qualifiers from McClain boys are; T. Pitzer with a time of 11.56 and Jensen Knaff with a time of 11.59 in the 100-meter dash, T. Pitzer with a time of 23.57 in the 200-meter dash, Trevor Newkirk in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.45, Landree Gray with a time of 16.75 in the 110-meter hurdles and a time of 41.67 in the 300-meter hurdles, the 4×100-meter relay team with a time of 45.20, the 4×400-meter relay team with a time of 3:51.14, and Jordan Pearson in the discus throw with a distance of 125-02.

Jordan Pearson finished fifth in the discus throw finals with a distance of 125-02.

Southeast district D II track and field finals are scheduled to be held Saturday at Washington High School starting at 10am.
