Fairfield Lions claim SHAC victory at home against Eastern Warriors

The Fairfield Lions hosted the Eastern Warriors on Monday at Buckeye Hills Country Club in Greenfield. The Lions boys golf team beat the Warriors by a score of 203 – 231 to claim victory in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference (SHAC) matchup. The Lady Lions golf team also pulled out the victory at Buckeye Hills defeating the Lady Warriors by three strokes in a tight 228 – 231 SHAC competition.

The match marked the fourth SHAC match of the season for the Lions boys golf team. The Lady Lions came into the day having played two previous SHAC matches.

The boys team was led by match medalist Ryland Donley who shot a 46 on the day to lead all golfers on the boys side. The Lions also saw Bryson Simmons shoot a 50 overall to help the team claim victory. Wyatt Willey also contributed to the win by shooting a 53 and Brandon Vidourek rounded out the scoring for the boys with a 54.

The Lions were also represented by Ethan Saunders who carded a 56 and Justin Sowders who shot 63 on the day.

The Lady Lions were led by Rachel Schuler, the medalist for the ladies match, who shot a 46 to match her male counterpart.

The Lions boys golf team is scheduled to be in action again on Thursday at Whiteoak Golf Course against cross-county and SHAC rival the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs.

The Lady Lions will have an extended break between matches as they are not scheduled to play again until August 23 at Hilltop Golf Course against SHAC rival the North Adams Lady Green Devils.
