Hillsboro High School Lady Indians girls golf preview

The Hillsboro High School Lady Indians golf team got into the swing of things a little earlier than their male counterparts this year when they started their season on August 4 by attending a tournament hosted by Pickerington North High School. The Lady Indians will end their season on September 20 with a home match against New Richmond.

The team is comprised of three seniors, two juniors, two sophomores, and one freshman. The Lady Indians are coached by retired teacher and local broadcast personality Dave Hilliard.

The Lady Indians welcome back a state qualifier in junior Kristin Jamieson. Jamieson has participated in several tournaments throughout the summer to get better. Hilliard said, “I expect Kristin to be the medalist in the majority of the matches we play locally. There are other tournaments early in the season that she will have to perform better at. But, we are in those tournaments because they know she is a good golfer.”

“We have five girls that have experience from last year back this year. With there being only six spots available in a varsity tournament that means we will have five golfers with experience in those situations.”, said Hilliard. “Madi Stratton and Larkyn Parry are two girls that I really expect to step up and improve this year. Both of them were out here during the summer working on their game so I expect them to get better this year.”
