The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs kicked off their season on August 19 against the Western Brown Broncos. The Mustangs will host the Hillsboro Indians on September 18 and the McClain Tigers on October 9. Lynchburg-Clay will wrap up their season on October 13 when they host Southern Hills Athletic Conference rival the Ripley Blue Jays.

The Lady Mustangs will be represented by six seniors, seven juniors, seven sophomores, and two freshmen. The team will be coached by long tenured soccer coach Dennis West.

Despite losing nine seniors from last season’s squad West is looking forward to this season. “We are looking forward to this year. The girls have been good at keeping active over the summer, which will help us greatly.”

The Lady Mustangs have been champions of the Southern Hills Athletic Conference for the previous six years. West expects that to continue this season, “Our expectation is to do well in the league and get into the tournament and make the kind of run we are accustomed to.”

“We are going to work on our touches and trap dramatically this season. That will be a focus of a fair amount of every practice. We are going to move that into every drill that we do, if at all possible.”, said West.

“I have a really strong senior class that has stepped up this summer. I don’t have any complaints when it comes to my seniors. I have been pleased with their ability to lead the team.”
