Fairfield hosts the Highland County Invitational Tuesday; all five local schools compete

Fairfield High School hosted the Highland County Invitational on Tuesday. The Lions and Lady Lions took home the top spots in the boys and girls race. The top finisher for the boys was Fairfield’s Austin Setty with a time of 16:59. On the girls side Ciara Colwell, also of Fairfield, finished first with a time of 21:00.

The boys team standings saw the Lions take first with a team total of 15 points; the Hillsboro Indians placed second with a total team score of 65; the Whiteoak Wildcats totaled 69 points to earn the third spot; the McClain Tigers were fourth with a total of 96 points; and the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs were in fifth place with a total of 126 points.

The top six finishers for the boys were all representatives of the Lions as Setty, Matthew Mangus, Cohen Frost, Bennett Hodson, Ethan Davis and Andrew Davis finished one through six within a minute of one another. Brandtson Duffie was also a top seven runner for Fairfield and placed eighth overall.

The top seven finishers for the Indians were; Jonathan Hatfield, Justin Scott, Bailey Lucarello, Nathan Spencer, Scott Eastes, Jeffrey Beery and Owen Ryan.

The Wildcats’ top seven runners were; Hunter Morgan, Atlee Carr, Zach DeAtley, Logan Cummings, Cody Everhart, Josh Graybeal and Gavin Tebo.

The Tigers’ top seven were; Reece Schluep, Nathan Ernst, Miles McMurry, Cody Borsini, Paul Bliss, Seth Cross and Chance Lane.

Lynchburg-Clay’s top seven consisted of; Dawson Osborn, Dylan Coleman, Ben Bales, Austin Leininger, Casey Barger, Jeremy Bingaman and Corey Mullenix.

Four of the top five finishers on the girls side were representatives of the Lady Lions, who took home first place, as Colwell, Morgan Richmond, Chloe Barber and Megan Gragg went one, two and four, five. The other three top runners for Fairfield were; Sarah Young, Meadow Cunningham and Laynee Duffie.

The Lady Indians were second in the girls’ standings and were represented by; Mollie McCreary, Keeley Schurman, Ellie Howland, Emily Young, Alora Brown and Madie Varoz-Amos.

The Lady Mustangs took third place and were represented by; Lilie Dearwester, Emily Pinkerton, Maelynn Quigley, Jessy Mullenix and Samantha Kirby.

The Lady Wildcats were represented by Ariel Farahay and the Lady Tigers saw Natalie Cunningham and Rachel Clark compete.
