The Highland County Special Olympics Wildcats softball team hosted the Highland County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) at Liberty Park on Friday for some friendly competition. The Wildcats claimed victory in the game by a final score of 14 – 7.

The Wildcats were represented by; Nathan Boatman, Phil Louden, Clint Wharton, Terrell Willis, Chris Tissot, Shawn Eldridge, Jean Ann Jones, Josh Rollins, Jordan Humphrey and Brice Seymour.

The game was a fun filled experience for members of both teams as they bantered playfully back and forth during the game.

Willis, who played second base for the Wildcats, had several spectacular run saving grabs that helped keep his team in front.

Eldridge was very good in the hot corner at third base for the Wildcats as he managed to stop a key ground ball in fifth inning that saved at least one run and possibly two.

At the plate the Wildcats got hot early and never looked back. Boatman, Willis, and Eldridge were especially potent at the dish as each had several hits and RBI on the day.

The HCSO attempted to make a comeback in the final frame scoring three runs in the inning but were unable to dig themselves out of the nine run hole they were in.
