The Hillsboro Athletic Boosters Annual Fish Fry was a success Friday night and the home team, the Hillsboro Indians, won their scrimmage with Paint Valley with a score of 14-7 after two quarters.
There was a great turn out to the Fish Fry and Hillsboro scrimmage and according to the concession stand, at the conclusion of the two quarters of varsity football, they had approximately five fish sandwiches.
The Indians struck first in the first quarter of play when Quarterback Hunter Chain connected with Ryan Hagan for a touchdown pass to put the home team up 7-0.
In the second quarter (7:46), Paint Valley got onto the board with a long pass down and sprint down the sidelines to make it 7-7.
After the Bearcat score, the Indians had the ball back, and Hunter Chain showed that he had some foot speed as he took the ball 65 yards, leaving the Bearcat defense behind to give you the final two-quarter score of 14-7.
With 3:46 left in the second quarter, Paint Valley looked to be threatening to even the score up again but Austin Harrison intercepted a pass right on the goal line to deny that opportunity.
The Indians will kick off the season next Friday, August 28 when they host Western Brown. That game will start at approximately 7:30 p.m.
McClain will also start their season next week after their last scrimmage on Fright night against Logan Elm. That game will be next Friday at home with a start time of 7:30 p.m.
