Hillsboro Indians soccer sheds youth in 2015

Youth is no longer holding the Hillsboro High School boys soccer team back this season, according to seventh year coach John Weber.

“The major change in this team from last year to this season is that we are no longer a young team,” said Weber. “We have senior leadership that is helping to grow the younger players for this year and for years to come.”

In total, the Indians have nine returning starters and seven of those starters are seniors.

“The seniors on this team are it’s backbone,” said Coach Weber. “However, I look for everyone on this roster to contribute to the team’s success as we go through this 2015 season.”

The goal of the Indians this year, albeit a tough one, is to win the South Central Ohio League. And according to coach Weber, there is one team on the top of their list to reach that goal.

“Chillicothe,” Weber said. “To see our goal of winning the SCOL, we have to beat them. Since joining the league, they haven’t been beat. We would like to do that this year.

“We’re are also tired of getting to the tournament and being a one-and-done team. We want to get to at least the districts this season and I truly believe we have the chance to see that happen at the end of the season with this group.

“I want to thank all my players for all the hard work and tell them to enjoy the season. It’s truly an honor to coach such a great group of young men.”
