The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs volleyball team swept East Clinton in three straight games on Wednesday night. The scores were 25-14, 25-21 and 25-20.

Lynchburg’s Hannah Magie led the way offensively with 10 kills, followed by Shelby Marshall with 9. Makayla Creed also recorded 11 assists.

“We had a very balanced game tonight,” said Lady Mustangs coach Mark Faust after the game. “Kylie Camp played very well at the net defensively, recording 3 blocks.

“I was really impressed with how active we were. We were able to get to a lot of balls that ultimately we were able to turn into points. Hannah Morgan, Makayla Creed and Brittany Ernst seemed to be all over the floor saving points. When we have to scramble and are able to win points and balls that we shouldn’t, it really boosts our confidence and our energy level. Those 3 saved 5-6 points in the match and really helped us sweep the match.

“We are starting to play better and our goal is to build some positive momentum heading into the tournament.”

The Lynchburg girls are now 5-7 overall on the season and 2-3 in Southern Hills Athletic Conference play. They will travel to Ripley on Friday night.
