The McClain Lady Tigers soccer team traveled to South Central Ohio League opponent Washington Court House on Tuesday evening.

The girls team was looking for their first win of the season and were able to get several goals in the game while holding the Lady Blue Lions to just one goal. The Lady Tigers were able to win the game with a final score of 5-1.

The game was very back and forth for a majority of the first half. Thirty minutes into the game, Taylor Polley drove the ball down the field. Passing the defense, she was able to shoot the ball pass Washington keeper to result in McClain’s first goal.

At 3:36, Taylor Polley went in for another goal, making the score 2-0.

When the second half started, McClain continued to push. At 33:42 Haley Peterman took a pass from Madison Robinette. Peterman drove it forward and was able to make another goal for McClain.

In fear of the game being a shutout, Washington was able to step it up as Alexis Grey made the Blue Lions single score.

Kelly Urigh made the fourth goal for McClain at 17:27, and McClain’s Taylor Polley took the ball from half field, and drove it past defense. Courthouses’ keeper tripped up, as Polley booted the ball into the net in the last 10 seconds of the game.

“I have confidence in them, and always have,” said Lady Tigers coach Shawn Peterman. “It’s going to be nice going into Hillsboro with the momentum of a win.”
