The Lady Indians hosted the Lady Tigers of Greenfield on Thursday night and won the game with a final of 9-0.

The Lady Indians got off to a slow start only getting two goals in the first period, the first from Hope Tira and the second Madison Marsh.

Going into the second period of play, already up 2-0 over McClain, the Lady Indians found their second wind and started knocking in goals left and right, getting everyone involved.

Cadence Myers started the second period off with a goal just five minutes into the 40 minute period, and Lillian VanZant followed that up two minutes later with a goal of her own. VanZant struck again less than a minute later with her second goal of the night to make it 5-0.

Jayme Maynard joined in on the scoring at the 20:52 mark with a goal and at 17:32, Lilly McCleese kneed a pass from Cadence Myers that found the back of the net to make it 7-0.

To finish off the night, Mallory Sluss was able to join the scoring parade with 12 minutes left and McCleese scored her second goal of the night and the last goal for the team with 4:18 to go in the game to bring the game to the final of 9-0.

“Another slow start for us tonight,” said Hillsboro coach Jeremy Ratcliff after the game. “It’s something we’ve been fighting all year, really. We’ve talked about it a lot this week. We played decently in the first half but too slow of a start and can’t take opportunities for granted.

“I thought we did a better job of finishing balls in the second half. The same opportunities were there in the first half, we just capitalized on them in the second. Overall, a good effort by our girls tonight.”
