Basketball season is just over halfway through and the Fairfield Lady Lions have surpassed their win total of eight from last year. The Fairfield girls surpassed that win total in a big way on Thursday night as they defeated Clinton-Massie 66-39.

An even bigger story for Fairfield faithful was the performance of sophomore guard Grace Shope, as she set the new school record for girls basketball for the most points scored in a game with 39, passing Heather Cox and Chelsey Riddle who both had 36. She also set the record for the most points in a quarter with 18. She was 14-21 shooting, 3-6 from behind the arc, had six rebounds, two assists, and snatched eight steals.

Carly Arnold chipped in with eight assists and six steals.

The Lady Lions are now 9-5 and will play Clermont Northeastern on Saturday, January 9. That game will be played at home.
