Tigers drop two to finish SCOL season

The South Central Ohio League Duals concluded on Thursday night for all league teams at Miami Trace High School. Miami Trace entered with a perfect 5-0 mark and easily left with their perfect mark in tact. McClain and East Clinton started off in round one with the Astros winning their first league match of the season and their first ever victory over McClain by a convincing 40-16 margin. In round two, Miami Trace easily handled the Astros, setting up a finale between the Panthers and the Tigers. Miami Trace proved to be the best dual meet team the Tigers faced all year by putting up a lopsided 66-9 final score. The final match of the night proved to be the match that everyone in the stands was hoping would happen. Miami Trace bumped their senior 152 pounder Austin Lovett up to the 160 pound class to wrestle McClain’s senior Jake Badgley. This was Miami Trace’s senior night and was a fitting way to end the night. Both of these wrestlers are at a very high level and the match did not disappoint. Badgley won what appeared to be a state level match by a final score of 8-6. Jake led the way for the Tigers by being the only MHS wrestler to go undefeated on the night at 2-0. Splitting even on the night for McClain were: Tanner Tite (120), Aaron Kovach (126), and Keegan Rawlins (132). The following wrestlers all finished 0-2: Shane Huff (106), Tommy Johnson (138), Kyler Trefz (152), and Ethan Taylor (170). It is also worth noting that freshman Tanner Tite became the third MHS wrestler to reach 20 wins on the season, joining Keegan Rawlins and Jake Badgley.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday at the Hamilton Township Invitation for a pool tournament where they will face division one opponents from both Ohio and Kentucky.
