Indians win sectionals; moving on to districts

The Hillsboro Indians bowling team just keeps rolling this year as they are now the DII sectional champions after winning at Shawnee Lanes in Chillicothe on Friday.

After the individuals, the Indians were in second place to Zane Trace High School. As the lanes started to dry up, the Indians started to roll better and better each game.

After two baker games Zane Trace had a 83 pin lead on the tribe, however they had to cross lanes with Hillsboro for the first time and roll on a lane that the Indians had already been on. Zane Trace couldn’t hold their scoring pace and after the next two baker game the Indians not only erased the lead Zane Trace had but were leading by 15 pins. Once the Indians got ahead, they didn’t look back. In the end, it was the Indians winning by a 111 pin margin over Zane Trace with New Lexington in third and Washington in fourth.

The Hillsboro Indians advanced to district finals to be held at Sunrise Strikes bowling in Zanesville.

“It will be a house we have never competed in before and the lanes are a bit different,” said Indians head coach Jeff Miller. “I would say they’re more to the lines of Wilmington’s Royal-Z lanes. The guys will be going up to hold practice in Zanesville on Monday afternoon and we will see how they do. I will say this; we have eight boys that will give everything they have on Tuesday. They are the most talented team we have ever coached and they have the will to finish what they have started. They have to finish in the top two to advance to state for the second year in a row. There will be some good teams there and we know who they are. However they know who we are as well and there isn’t anyone looking past us. We are going to hit them with everything we have got.”
