Indians fall 4-1 to Washington

The Blue Lions were able to get in their SCOL tennis match against Hillsboro before the rains came Wednesday afternoon, April 6.

Washington won the match, four courts to one.

At first singles, Washington’s Kenny Upthegrove defeated Chase Colliver, 6-1, 6-0.

At second singles, the Blue Lions’ Grant Mustain beat Spencer Brown, 6-0, 6-1.

Jordan Behm made it a clean sweep of the singles courts (at third) with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Daniel Jacky.

The teams split the decisions on the doubles courts.

At first doubles, Madalyn Wayne and Max Schroeder lost to Christian Green and Dawson Carter in a tough three-setter, 4-6, 6-4, 4-6.

At second doubles, Brody Morris and Jakob Snyder defeated Camyn Green and Austin Bumgardner, 6-1, 6-1.

There were two j-v matches Wednesday. (The Hillsboro competitor’s names were not available.)

In doubles, Susanna Eckstein and Jack Luebbe won, 7-3 in an abbreviated pro-set.

Tony Kuenzli lost his rain-shortened match, 1-6.

Washington (now 3-1 overall, 2-1 in the SCOL) is scheduled to host Wilmington Friday at 4:30 p.m.
