The Fairfield Lady Lions had a slow start to their game against the Whiteoak Lady ‘Cats softball team on Thursday night after not having played in ten day, but once they got started they didn’t stop until they had run-ruled their opponents 13-0 in six innings.

The Lady Lions were quiet in the first two innings but in the third they struck for five runs.

Throughout the game, Kati White was on her game as she allowed just two hits and struckout 12 en route to the win.

In the fifth inning they Lady Lions added three to their total and then brought the game to the run-rule in the sixth by adding another five to make their total 13. White, as she had done all game, held the Lady ‘Cats to nothing in the bottom of the innings and that brought the game to its conclusion.

“This was a good team win,” said Mark Dettwiller, Head Coach of the Lady Lions after the game. “These girls are young but they’re coming along. Kati threw the ball really well tonight and defensively we’ve been doing real well. It’s been ten days since we played so it was good to get out here today.”

White helped her cause at the plate by collecting a hit; Kourtnie Smith and Carli Reiber added two hits and Grace Larrick had one hit.

The Lady Lions will face off against Fayetteville on Thursday on their home field with the game set to start at 5 p.m.
