Buddelmeyer selected for Hart Scholarship

The Larry A. Hart Memorial Scholarship Committee has announced they recently determined the recipient for 2016. Sarah Buddelmeyer was chosen from several candidates. Sarah is the daughter of Joel and Amy Buddelmeyer of Leesburg, Ohio.

Sarah will be graduating this year from Fairfield Local High as valedictorian of her class. She will be attending Coastal Carolina University to study marine science. While in high school, Sarah has maintained a 4.0 grade point average all four years. She has participated in cheerleading for two years and varsity volleyball for four years, captain of the volleyball team her senior year, a member of band and marching band, a part of a mentor-mentee program, as well as currently being class secretary. Some of Sarah’s achievements include: receiving the Jerry Pausch Scholar Athlete Award for maintaining honor roll status while participating in a varsity sport, member of National Honor Society, member of Academy of Scholars for four years as well as being secretary of the National Honor Society, competed in the Youth Governor’s Art Show and had two pieces go to the state level Sarah is currently employed at American Eagle Outfitters at the Tanger Outlet Mall in Jeffersonville, Ohio. In Sarah’s spare time, she enjoys traveling and being outdoors hiking, hunting and fishing.

The Larry A. Hart Memorial Scholarship is a thousand dollar ($1,000.00) scholarship that is sponsored by the Ohio Wildlife Officer’s Lodge #143 of the Fraternal Order of Police, and The Twin Valley Rod and Gun Club in Preble County. The scholarship is available to those persons who are graduating or have graduated from an accredited high school, and will enroll, or are enrolled in an accredited college majoring in Law Enforcement or Natural Resources.

This scholarship was established in memory of Wildlife Officer Larry A. Hart. At the time of his death, Larry Hart was a thirty-year veteran of the Ohio Division of Wildlife. Those in the professions of Wildlife Management and Law Enforcement recognize his integrity and his commitment to service and conservation.
