The Hillsboro Lady Indians softball team ended the week with a bang on Friday night, defeating McClain 7-2.

The Lady Indians had a strong showing both at the plate and in the field. They collected 12 hits total led by Kerstin Thornburgh with a 4-for-4 night including two triples. Madison Snyder also had a perfect night at the plate going 3-for-3. Both Hanna Breeden and Riley Moberly tallied two hits in the game, both of Breeden’s being doubles.

Breeden also threw a complete game from the mound, going all seven innings and racking up 9 strikeouts.

The Lady Indians took an early lead in the bottom of the second, scoring a single run, which McClain answered for in their half of the third with a run of their own making it 1-1. In the bottom of the third Thornburgh led off with her first of two triples followed by a double from Breeden and then another double from Snyder. They scored two runs in that inning to extend their lead to 3-1.

In the top of the fifth inning, the Lady Tigers scored their second and last run of the game to make it 3-2 but the Lady Indians answered in a big way in the bottom of the same inning scoring three runs to jump out to the 6-2 lead.

Hillsboro added one more in the bottom of the sixth to bring the game to its final of 7-2.

The Lady Indians will travel to Western Brown Saturday, May 7 for a double header starting at 11 a.m.
