A Winchester woman suffered life-threatening injuries in a single-vehicle crash that saw the vehicle she was a passenger in go airborne Tuesday in Clermont County.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the crash took place at 7:35 p.m. at S.R. 32 and Half Acre Road in Batavia Township.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2003 Ford F150 driven by Laura Srofe, of Mount Orab, was eastbound on S.R. 32 when the driver took the exit to Half Acre Road and traveled through the intersection at the top of the ramp at a high rate of speed. The pickup truck traveled off the right side of Half Acre Road before going airborne and landing at the bottom of a long embankment. The vehicle continued through some brush before coming to rest in a parking lot, the state patrol said.

Srofe was transported by Air Care to the University of Cincinnati Hospital with serious injuries.

A passenger in the vehicle, Deborah Pratt, of Winchester, was transported by Air Care to the University of Cincinnati Hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the state patrol.

Srofe and Pratt were not wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash, the state patrol said.

The crash remains under investigation by the state patrol.
