Strickland featured speaker at Democrat picnic


The Highland County Democratic Party will hold its annual picnic from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2. at the AmVets Park, 1541 North Shore Drive, Hillsboro.

Frances Strickland will be the featured speaker. She is the wife of U.S. Senate candidate and former Ohio governor Ted Strickland.

The party also plans to feature its mayoral candidate for the city of Hillsboro, Pamela Limes, and its just announced candidates for mayor of the village of Leesburg, Freddie Snyder; the village of Mowrystown, Bonnie Parr; and any other mayoral candidate that has announced their candidacy.

Candidates running for township trustee and fiscal officer will also be recognized.

The menu will include Ponderosa chicken wings, potato salad, baked beans, dessert, and drinks. A freewill donation will be accepted at the door.

Frank Grover will provide the entertainment with an auction. Door prizes will be awarded to end the evening.

The public is invited.
