A ‘Christmas Carol’

The Paxton Theatre will present Tom Mula’s “Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol,” playing at 7 p.m. this Friday and Saturday at the theatre in Bainbridge.

“Marley was dead, to begin with, and what happens to Ebenezer Scrooge’s mean, sour, pruney old business partner after that?” the theatre’s Benjamin Gullett wrote in describing the play. “Chained and shackled, Marley is condemned to a hellish eternity. He’s even given his own private tormentor: a malicious little hell-sprite who thoroughly enjoys his work. Desperate, Marley accepts his one chance to free himself. To escape his own chains, he must first redeem Scrooge.

“So begins a journey of laughter and terror, redemption and renewal, during which Scrooge’s heart, indeed, is opened; but not before Marley – in this irreverent, funny and deeply moving story – discovers his own.”

“Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol” features local actors Gullett, Madison Hatfield, Mark Holmes and Jeff Horick.

Tickets for the play can be purchased for $12 by visiting www.PaxtonTheatre.com. At the door, tickets are $15. Credit cards are accepted for online purchases and at the door.

Seats for the production will be reserved, so the theatre recommends that tickets are purchased early.

The Paxton Theatre is located at 133 E. Main St., Bainbridge.
