The Hillsboro Police Department has released the following information:

Dec. 20

ARREST

Joseph Collett, 26, of Winchester, for driving under suspension.

ACCIDENT

On Saturday, Dec. 19 at 10:13 a.m. the police department responded to a motor vehicle crash. Raymond Erickson, 86, of Hillsboro, and Bret Lunsford, 57, of Wilmington, were both northbound on North High Street and were sitting in a line at the traffic light at Collins Avenue. Erickson advised that he rolled back and stuck the vehicle driven by Lunsford, which was behind his vehicle.

On Saturday, Dec. 19 at 6:17 p.m. the police department responded to a motor vehicle crash. Jason Helwig, 22, of Hillsboro, was sitting at the stop sign at the entrance to Walmart. Thomas Brate, 43, of Williamsburg, was westbound on Harry Sauner Road. Helwig failed to see the vehicle driven by Brate. Helwig entered the westbound lane of Harry Sauner and was struck by Brate. Helwig was cited to failure to yield when entering roadway from private property.

INCIDENT

On Sunday, Dec. 20 at 1:07 a.m. it was report to the police department by a resident in the 500 block of North West Street that she had a television stolen.

Dec. 19

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Gail Suthers, 58, of Hillsboro, for OVI.

Eleven-year-old Hillsboro juvenile for theft.

Raymond Erickson, 86, of Hillsboro, for failure to display validation sticker.

Paul Riley, 42, of Hillsboro, for OVI and expired tags.

Jason Helwig, 22, of Hillsboro for failure to yield.

Dec. 18

INCIDENT

On Thursday, Dec. 18 at 4 p.m. the police department received a report of theft at Walmart. Upon officer arrival, a male was being detained and the store merchandise was recovered. The male was identified as Marshall C. Smith, 33, of Greenfield. Smith was also found to have two outstanding warrants for his arrest. Smith was arrested for the two bench warrants, criminal trespassing and theft. He was transported to the Highland County Justice Center.
