The McClain boys basketball team hosted East Clinton on Tuesday night and even after getting out to an early lead, allowed the Astros to make a comeback and win the game 48-42.

McClain took the lead from the tip-off, and led the game 11-10 after the first.

Astros seemed to wake up in the second quarter as JT McCarren assisted on Floyd’s first second quarter basket then scored on his own with DJ Luttrell getting the assist as the East Clinton went up 14-11. The Astros never trailed again.

In the third, Cole Jenkins and Jonny Blair had assists on McCarren layins as the EC lead ballooned to 28-22. Starkey kept the Tigers close, 30-26, before EC went on a 6-0 run. The Tigers went to a 1-3-1 defense and the Astros solved with with nifty passing and strong defense.

The Astros hit just enough at the line down the stretch and the Tigers couldn’t get the offense untracked in the final minute.

The game also had guest appearances from the C.A.R.E Dance Studio ran by Whitney Beekman. The girls age groups, 9-10, and 11-16 dance to Carousel by Melanie Martinez, and New Girl in Town from the movie Hairspray. They will perform again Friday night during JV halftime and Varsity halftime.

McClain plays Courthouse Friday night, vs. Miami Trace.
