Four Greenfield residents were arrested Wednesday on methamphetamine-related charges after meth labs were allegedly found where an Adult Parole Authority officer was making a home visit.
It marked the fifth time in the last three weeks that meth labs have allegedly been discovered in Greenfield.
Acting Greenfield Chief of Police Jeremiah Oyer said a person at the 702 Jefferson St. residence where the visit was going to be made informed the Adult Parole Authority (APA) officer before the visit that there might be meth-related activity in the home.
So Oyer accompanied the APA officer to the residence at 10:15 a.m. where he said three active one-pot meth labs; four generators used in the production of meth and other chemicals used to make the drug; drug paraphernalia including syringes, spoons and similar items; plus suspected finished meth product were found.
Four people were arrested and they were all charged with first-degree felony illegal manufacture of drugs and second-degree felony illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs. The charges are usually second- and third-degree felonies, respectively, but were elevated because the alleged crimes took place within 1,000 feet of a school, Oyer said.
Arrested were Jacob Cox, 19; Aaron Cox, 18; Logan Davis, 21; and Chassidy Campbell, 36.
Oyer said Aaron Cox, Davis and Campbell are being held in the Greenfield jail on $170,000 bonds each. Jacob Cox is being in jail on no bond because he has a holder from the APA.
All four are scheduled to appear in Highland County Court in Greenfield at 11 a.m. Friday.
