A Charlie’s Angels Relay for Life Flea Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 4 at the Walmart parking lot in Hillsboro. Dance company golf outing fundraiser
The Modern Movement Dance Company is holding a golf outing fundraiser on June 4 at Buckeye Hills, 7216 Limes Rd., Greenfield. The event is sponsored by Greenfield’s Catch 22 Sports Pub. The cost is $240 for a four-person team, or $60 per person. Registration begins at noon with tee off at 1:30 p.m. Hole sponsorships are $50, and corporate sponsorships are $275, which includes a hole sponsorship, a corporate sign, and pays for a team of four. The event will include food and beer, prizes, raffles, contest holes, and more. Live music will follow that evening at Catch 22.
SSCC Engineering Info Session
Southern State Community College will host an Engineering Info Session 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, on the college’s central campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. The session will provide an overview of all the engineering programs, including Aviation Maintenance, Computer Assisted Design, Electrical/Electronic Technology, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, and HVAC. OVRDC Second Round Caucus
The Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission Second Round Highland County Caucus meeting will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 11 at the Commissioners Office in the Administration Building, 114 Gov. Foraker Pl., Hillsboro. The commission will discuss and rank projects submitted to OVRDC for possible funding consideration through the Appalachian Regional Commission. Identification of potential Economic Development Administration projects will also occur. Updated information will be presented on the status of the ARC and EDA programs as well as status of OVRDC’s designation as a Regional Transportation Planning Organization. The meeting is open to the public, local government officials, and non-profit organizations. The Highland County Chapter of Public Employee Retirees, Inc. will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 12 at the Highland County Senior Citizen Center, 185 Muntz St., Hillsboro. The speaker will be Peggy Holbrook, supervisor, Adult Probation Department. All members and guests welcome.
The Highland County Senior Citizens Center’s annual 1950s Dance and Dinner is Saturday, May 14th from 5-9 p.m. The event includes cake walks, hula hoop contests, dancing, door prizes and an Arthur Murray Dance Studio performance. Vintage-style portraits will be available. Tickets on sale now at the senior center and are $15 per person and include admission, dinner, dance and the entrainment show. The community is invited. Mardi Growl Parade
The Highland County Humane Society will hold a Mardi Growl Parade on Saturday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Liberty Park in Hillsboro. There will be a raffle, bake sale, food, vendors, grab bags and a photographer that will take a picture of you and your dog. To participate in a one-mile walk, there is a $20 registration fee that includes a T-shirt, beads and bandana. Registration forms may be picked up at the Hillsboro Veterinary Hospital, 941 W Main St., or Highland County Humane Society at 9331 SR 124, east of Hillsboro. Belfast School Alumni Reunion
The annual Belfast School Alumni Reunion will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Ponderosa Banquet Center in Hillsboro. The doors open with appetizers at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. The cost of the meal is $12. Special classes being honored are 1926, 1936, 1946, 1956 and 1966. Highland bicentennial dinner
A Highland bicentennial spaghetti dinner fundraiser will be held May 14 from 5-7 p.m. in the Masonic Lodge, Leesburg, on SR 28. The menu will consist of spaghetti, salad, garlic bread and desserts. The cost is a donation.
Poker run for JUMP
The fourth annual poker run to benefit JUMP will be held Saturday, May 14 at the Hillsboro Eagles. Sign-in is from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with the poker run at noon. The entry fee is $15 per person or $25 per couple. There will be a 50/50 raffle, auction, raffles and entertainment by Private Issue. Food will be available through the kitchen. Greenfield First Presbyterian dinner
The First Presbyterian Church of Greenfield will serve dinner Sunday, May 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the church dining room. The menu will be parmesan chicken breast, roasted potatoes, green beans or corn, fruit salad, a variety of desserts, rolls and drinks. The cost is a suggested donation of $8 per adult. Children 12 and under are free. Carry-out will be available.

GACC meal preparation class
A class in meal preparation will be held at the Greenfield Area Christian Center Community Room, 910 N. Fifth St., Greenfield, beginning at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 18. The Fairfield Local School Board of Education has changed the date of its May regular monthly meeting. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 24 in the District Office Conference Room. The public is invited to attend.
Red Hat Society Spring Fling
The local Red Hat Society will host its annual Hillsboro Spring Fling from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 26 at the Highland County Senior Citizen Center, 185 Muntz St., Hillsboro. Cave Quest VBS in South Salem
A summer kids’ event called Cave Quest VBS will be hosted at Buckskin Community Church in South Salem, Tuesday, June 14 through Thursday, June 16. At Cave Quest, kids explore what it means to follow Jesus through dark times. Kids participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing songs, play teamwork-building games, dig into yummy treats, experience one-of-a-kind Bible adventures, meet Bible Memory Buddies to remind them of Jesus’ love, and make fun crafts. Family members and friends are encouraged to join in the special Cave Quest Closing at 8 p.m. each day. Cave Quest is for kids who have completed gradses K-6 and will run from 6 to 8:20 p.m. each day. Pre-registration forms are encouraged and can be obtained at the church’s Facebook page.
