Hillsboro FFA visits state convention

On May 5-6 the Hillsboro FFA traveled to Columbus for the 88th Ohio FFA State Convention. Members toured a meat packing facility and attended different sessions where they listened to keynote speakers. Six of the Hillsboro FFA members participated in the Agricultural Issue Career Development Event and placed sixth in the state with there topic on food waste. Secretary Peyton Kidder and treasurer Samantha Fender both received gold ratings on their officer books and were recognized during convention. Bryanna Buerkle also was recognized on stage for winning one of the four Washington Leadership Conference Scholarships. While at convention 10 members participated in the Ohio FFA Fights Hunger activity where they helped pack over 88,000 meals for local people that are on need. The chapter was also recognized for donating money to Children’s Hospital for help families with the cost associated with being in a hospital. Meredith Oglesby was elected as the vice president and Lauren Grover was elected as the reporter for the state of Ohio in FFA. Pictured are the Hillsboro FFA members at convention.
