The Leesburg Library’s summer reading program – On Your Mark, Get Set, Read – is underway. We have many activities and programs planned for patrons of all ages and we hope you will be able to join us for some or all of them. Please stop in to sign up and start reading and winning prizes.

There will be no storytimes during June, July and August. Our special programs for kids will be on Thursdays. This month’s programs include:

• June 2 – Jim Kleefeld’s Sports & Fitness Magic Show at10:30 a.m.

• June 9 – Bookin’ with Ronald McDonald. Join us for an entertaining show with everyone’s favorite clown at 10:30 a.m.

• June 16 – Let’s Get Physical with Highland District Hospital staff. Learn about nutrition and wellness for kids at 10:30 a.m.

• June 23 – Sporty Cartoon Fun at our drive-in movie at 10:30 a.m.

Our teen group, SPARX, will also be meeting during the month of June. On Thursday, June 23 join Leesburg teens for a Chocolate Olympics competition from 5:30-7 p.m.

We also want to remind kids and teens to participate in our summer reading contest this year, “How Slow Can You Go?” Participants will need to design and decorate a parachute that will have the longest hang time when dropped from a height of 20 feet. The competition will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30. Details are at the front desk.

Our Knit Together group continues to meet Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. New members are always welcome so feel free to join the group. The RRR book group meets Thursday, June 16 at 1:30 p.m. The group is looking for new members so feel free to join them for some great book discussions.

As you can see, we have some great events scheduled during the month of June. We look forward to you stopping by and visiting with us, picking up some great reads, and attending some of our fun-filled summer reading programs. Are you ready? On Your Mark, Get Set, Read.
