Bright Local teachers honored

Four Bright Elementary teachers were honored at the Sept. 21 Bright Local Schools Board Meeting for outstanding test scores on the 2015-16 AIR Tests. Jackie Broughton and Jennifer Frasier were honored for having the highest AIR test results in the ESC region in both math and English language arts. The ESC is comprised of 12 school districts and includes all Highland County schools, with the exception of Hillsboro. In English language arts, the third grade scored 80.6 percent, with a state indicator of 68 percent. The Bright Local third graders scored 86.1 percent in math, with a state indicator of 73 percent. Sharon Bick and Heather Roberts, fourth grade teachers, were also honored for outstanding test scores. Fourth graders at Bright Elementary were tied for third in the ESC with 80 percent passing the AIR Test and a state indicator of 72 percent. The same students were also third in the ESC in social studies with a passage rate of 91.1 percent, which surpassed the state indicator of 75 percent.
