Girls basketball tournament next week

The 2017 girls basketball tournament brackets have been released, and the five local high school girls basketball teams will be hitting the court next week to compete for sectional and district semifinal slots.

All team records are current as of the time of the tournament drawing.

Division II

The ninth-seeded Hillsboro Lady Indians (4-14) will open with a sectional semifinal matchup against eighth-seeded Logan Elm (8-12) at Adena High School Monday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. The winner will advance to the sectional championship to challenge Chillicothe (6-12) at Adena High School Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 6:15 p.m.

The fifth-seeded McClain Lady Tigers (9-10) will open with a sectional championship matchup against fourth-seeded Circleville (11-7) at Adena High School Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. The winner will advance to district semifinals.

Division III

The second-seeded Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs (17-3) will open with a sectional championship game at Valley High School Saturday, Feb. 18 at 4:30 p.m. against the winner of a sectional championship between West Union (5-13) and Adena (1-18). The winner will advance to district semifinals.

Division IV

The fourth-seeded Fairfield Lady Lions will open with a sectional championship game against Clay at Northwest High School Thursday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. The winner will advance to district semifinals.

The ninth-seeded Whiteoak Lady Wildcats (2-17) will open with a sectional semifinal matchup against Sciotoville (10-8) at Northwest High School Monday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. The winner will advance to the sectional championship to challenge Notre Dame High School at Northwest High School Thursday, Feb. 16 at 6:15 p.m.
