Community Thanksgiving service

The Hillsboro Community Thanksgiving Service will be held Sunday, Nov. 19 at the Hillsboro Church of God, 5760 U.S. Route 62, Hillsboro, beginning at 6 p.m. The event will feature guest speaker Greg Seaman from Sinking Spring. There will be a time of fellowship and refreshments following the service.

SSCC ‘Let Freedom Ring’

The Southern State Community Band will present “Let Freedom Ring” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19 at the college’s central campus in Hillsboro in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium. Tickets are free, but limited. To receive tickets, see any member of the band or stop by the SSCC information desk in Hillsboro.

Lynchburg School Board

The Lynchburg-Clay Board of Education will meet in regular session at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20 at the Lynchburg-Clay Board of Education Building.

SOESC Governing Board

The Southern Ohio Educational Service Center Governing Board will have its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28 at Region 14/Hopewell, 5350 W. New Market Road, Hillsboro.

VFW fish fry

A fish fry will be held at the VFW Post 9094 behind Dairy Queen Saturday, Dec. 2 from 4:30 p.m.-7 p.m. The event is open to the public. New additional parking is available behind Dairy Queen.

Breakfast with Santa

Breakfast with Santa, The Grinch and Frozen-like Friends will be held Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Highland County Senior Center. Only 100 tickets are available per time slot. To purchase tickets, visit the senior center or go online at www.highlandseniors.com. Admission includes a picture with real-bearded Santa, breakfast, visits with characters, decorating a giant gingerbread house, making and sending treats up the center’s Reindeer Food Elevator and more. Bell Gardens Festival of Trees

Bell Gardens Place, in partnership with Relay for Life, will present a Festival of Trees from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7. Bell Gardens, 251 Harry Sauner Road, Hillsboro, is asking local businesses and individuals to decorate and donate Christmas trees and wreaths for the event. All proceeds will benefit Highland County Relay for Life. There will be hors d’oeuvres, wine samples and the donated items will be auctioned off at 7 p.m. Anyone wanting to participate should contact Ida Juillerat at 937-393-8830 by Dec. 1.

5th Christmas Day Dinner

The Hillsboro First Baptist Church, 127 S. West St., will hold its fifth annual Christmas Day Dinner titled “A Feast for a King” on Monday, Dec. 25. The meal will be served in the fellowship hall from noon to 2 p.m. Home delivery is available upon request from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. by calling 937-393-1473 Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
