Hillsboro Garden Club April meeting

0

President Shelly Rayburn welcomed everyone present to the April 27 meeting of the Hillsboro Garden Club. The members stood for the Pledge of Allegiance.

The spring auction began with Rayburn serving as auctioneer with assistance from Judith Stinvender and Jennifer West. The bidding was fast and furious with beautiful plants galore.

After the auction there was a break for refreshments provided by Teresa Cudkowicz and West. A short business meeting followed. Fourteen members and one guest were present, each answering the roll call question, “What is your best gardening tip?” Many interesting tips were shared, such as using castor oil to get rid of moles.

The reading of the previous meeting’s minutes was dispensed with. Reports were given by the treasurer and the sunshine committee. Members were updated on the Fall 2021 District 16 Conference and the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs’ Conference which will held via Zoom.

The sign at Floral Hall will be repaired.

The next meeting will be May 25 at Floral Hall at the Highland County Fairgrounds in Hillsboro. The meeting will be at 7 p.m.

Lynn Luman and Larry Moore will host the meeting, Andrea Schneider will provide the horticultural display and Carol Gorby will give the program. All gardeners are welcome.
