Week 16 Waiver: Slim pickings but a few could help

0

Oh my, this is Week 16 of the fantasy season and the playoffs for most leagues. Did you survive the Week 15 injuries? Most of you reading this probably don’t have Jonathan Taylor on your roster, unless you were completely stacked otherwise.

On the other hand, a lot of you probably have Jalen Hurts on your roster and we just learned that it will be Gardner Minshew time for a couple of weeks as Hurts mends a dislocated shoulder.

RB

Zack Moss (3% Rostered on Yahoo); Deon Jackson (7% Rostered on Yahoo)

Jonathan Taylor is presumed to be out for the season with a high ankle sprain. If you are reading this and you need a replacement or you need a flex play, you can choose one or both of these backs. Of course you might have to flip a coin on who the starter will be and who will get the most action but both should be able to get you 10-12 points per week and they might score.

Marlon Mack (6% Rostered on Yahoo)

Mack got into the Broncos game vs Arizona and he was involved. He carried the ball 5 times for 37 yards and a TD, plus 26 receiving yards. He could turn into a flex play or a stash if something were to happen to Latavious Murray. I hope your playoffs aren’t riding on Mack but if you are a Murray owner, he wouldn’t be a terrible stash.

Other RBs that need to be owned: Jerick McKinnon (78%); Zonovan Knight (74%); Latavious Murray (74%)

WR

Marquise Goodwin (3% Rostered on Yahoo)

With WR Tyler Lockett probably out for 2 weeks with a broken finger, you need a replacement. Slide Goodwin right on in. The last time Goodwin had to start he scored two TDs and this week he gets the WR friendly Kansas City Chiefs. If you need a Lockett replacement or a nice fill in WR, Goodwin makes a nice pickup.

Jahan Dotson (17% Rostered on Yahoo)

Dotson started off the season hot and then he was injured and he cooled way down, now he’s hot again. He has averaged 18.45 Fantasy Points per Game the last two games. He has some tough matchups coming up but the Commanders look at him in the redzone. Pick him up for your playoff run.

Other WRs that need to be owned: Zay Jones (55%); Donovan Peoples-Jones (59%); K.J. Osborn (5%)

TE

Chigoziem Okonkwo (29% Rostered on Yahoo)

Three weeks in a row, double digit fantasy points. If you can get double digits from a TE, you are in rare company, especially 3 games in a row. Those stats are similar to Kelce, Ertz, Higbee and Goedert. Pick up Okonkwo and get him in your lineup.

Juwan Johnson (21% Rostered on Yahoo)

He’s been here on my list before and he’s a target favorite of QB Andy Dalton. He’s also a redzone favorite. As long as Dalton is the starter, Johnson needs to be owned.

Other TEs that should be rostered: Taysom Hill (47%); Evan Engram (72%); Noah Fant (22%)

QB

Gardner Minshew (1% Rostered on Yahoo)

Minshew will slide in as the starter for the Eagles with Hurts being out for 2-3 weeks. Minshew has a history of putting up good numbers when called upon and this is the best team he’s ever played for. Minshew should be a serviceable QB as a QB2 or even a streamer QB1.

Brock Purdy (21% Rostered on Yahoo)

What else can you ask for? This dude has come right in off the bench and led the 49ers to three victories. Averaging over 20 points per game, if he’s available, go get him in your lineup.

Other QBs that should be owned: Trevor Lawerence (78%); Daniel Jones (59%); Andy Dalton (12%)
