Hillsboro FFA attends National FFA Convention

Fifty of the Hillsboro FFA Chapter members recently departed for the 95th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis. Along the way they made many stops and toured some unique museums as well as a few other unique places.

Kris Kringle is coming to Apple Farm Service and he’s inviting everyone to come out and visit. The event includes free printed pictures with Santa, homemade crafts, hot chocolate, hot cider, snacks and more.

SSU to host ‘I Have A Dream’ on Feb. 2

The Vern Riffe Center for the Arts (VRCFA) at Shawnee State University will host “I Have A Dream” on Thursday, Feb. 2. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be held in the Eloise Covert Smith Theater of the VRCFA.

Mowrystown FFA plants, picks corn

The Mowrystown FFA planted corn in a field next to Whiteoak High School over the summer. The chapter received hands on learning on how to handpick the corn, which the chapter filled one trailer with last week. The members got to experience how a combine worked and many members were able to watch the corn get combined. Mowrystown FFA members are pictured in the corn field in these photos

Free suicide prevention training

The Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) received funding from the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio’s (FAO) Cause Connector giving program to help support an important community training for suicide awareness and prevention called QPR: Question, Persuade and Refer.

Hillsboro FFA inducts 83 new Greenhands

The Hillsboro FFA Chapter recently held its annual Greenhand Night in order to celebrate the induction of new members into their chapter. The Hillsboro FFA hosted this event in the Hillsboro High School auditorium where it had 83 Greenhands receive their Greenhand degree pin to represent their membership in the organization.

Raymond Friend (left) with the Leesburg Area Historical Society accepts the donation of a plate stamped from the former Hook Furniture store in Leesburg at the inaugural pancake breakfast. Funds raised will help with the restoration project of the Leesburg Train Depot.
